According to Trump, who has known Russian President Vladimir Putin closely over the years, Putin seems somewhat destabilized due to a thwarted revolt. He believes this presents an opportune moment for the United States to broker peace negotiations between the two countries at odds - Russia and Ukraine.
The ex-president hinted that reaching such an agreement might necessitate Kyiv surrendering some of its territories to Moscow as part of halting hostilities which originated from Russian aggression towards Ukraine about one year and four months ago.
In a conversation with Reuters, Trump expressed his desire for an end to the loss of lives resulting from what he termed as 'an absurd war'. He stressed that America should play a pivotal role in bringing both nations together in pursuit of a peaceful resolution.
