Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 2.67% or 1.09 points to trade at 41.94 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 0.58% or 0.35 points to end at 60.96 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 0.41% or 0.18 points to 44.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which lost 1.83% or 1.80 points to trade at 96.50 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 1.33% or 0.41 points to end at 30.39 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 1.29% or 0.40 points to 30.34.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 40 and 19 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.20% or 2.48 to $1215.68 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.64% or 0.73 to hit $45.13 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.58% or 0.74 to trade at $47.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1436, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.8905.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 95.68.
