Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) managing director Chris Oorschot sat down with Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss promising assay results from drilling at the Siona gold discovery, part of the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia.

Oorschot outlined the continuity and strike potential revealed by the initial batch of results. Notable intersections include 170 metres at 1 g/t from a re-entry hole and 80 metres at 1 g/t from a new drill hole to the north.

“These results confirm the general continuity of mineralisation and strike extension towards the northwest,” Oorschot noted.

He also emphasised the rapid progress of the exploration program, which is testing 500 metres of strike length to better understand the scale and geometry of the system.

Looking ahead, Oorschot revealed that while awaiting assay results, the company was extending the exploration program to test multiple structural targets around Siona, including parallel magnetic flows to the south, northwest extensions, and strike structures to the north.

He expressed optimism about the broader scale potential of the Siona discovery.

Highlights

Drilling results at Siona:

  • Re-entry of hole 39 extended to 170 metres at 1 g/t.
  • Scissor hole returned 35 metres at 1 g/t.
  • Hole 47 to the north intersected 80 metres at 1 g/t.
  • Confirmed continuity of mineralisation and strike towards the northwest.

Exploration program progress:

  • Testing 500 metres of strike length to understand the scale and geometry of the system.
  • Extended program to assess structural targets, including parallel magnetic flows and strike structures.

Next (LON:NXT) steps:

  • Awaiting assay results from initial drilling.
  • Further testing of targets to refine understanding of the system's broader potential.
  • Continuous news flow anticipated as drilling progresses.

Promising assay results

Tylah Tully (TT): Yandal Resources managing director Chris Oorschot is here to talk to us about the promising assay results the company has received from drilling at the Siona gold discovery within its Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia. Chris, thanks for joining us today.

Chris Oorschot (CO): Morning, Tyler.

TT: So, talk us through these latest results from follow-up drilling at Siona.

CO: We've received the first couple of batches back. The first hole we re-entered, hole 39, extended the original intercept to 170 metres at 1 g/t. We also completed a scissor hole adjacent to that, which returned an intercept of 35 metres at 1 g/t.

Towards the north, hole 47 returned an intercept of 80 metres at 1 g/t. These results are great. They confirm the general continuity of mineralisation and strike continuity towards the northwest.

These are just the first results from a rapid exploration program designed to understand the Siona area.

We've completed several additional holes, testing 500 metres of strike length. We're really looking forward to seeing those results.

It’s early days, but we’re starting to understand the scale, geometry and potential of this mineralised system.

TT: What are the next steps? Where do you go from here at Siona?

CO: While waiting for results from the first phase of drilling, we've extended the assay program.

We're starting to test several structural targets near Siona, including a parallel magnetic flow to the south, the northwest extension identified in the magnetics, and a north-south strike structure to the north of Siona.

These additional tests will help us understand the broader potential of Siona. There’s going to be a lot of news flow as we move forward.

TT: It definitely sounds like an exciting time for the company. We can’t wait to see how this drilling program unfolds. Thanks for joining us today.

CO: Thanks, Tyler.
