The board and senior management succession plan of Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has been implemented with Chris Oorschot stepping into the role of managing director and CEO with effect from today.
Having begun with Yandal as exploration manager in March 2023 and joining the board as technical director in September 2023, Oorschot will continue to advance the company’s highly prospective gold projects in the Western Australian Goldfields, supported by senior exploration geologist Dr Anthony Morey.
Oorschot has a successful track record working in the West Australian gold sector, from greenfield and brownfield targeting and exploration through to resource definition and development.
Prior to joining Yandal, Oorschot served as the exploration manager for Dacian Gold Ltd where he oversaw the restructuring of the company’s mineral resources and ore reserves, led the geological due diligence for numerous strategic opportunities and implemented revised targeting and exploration strategies. His development and mining experience includes open pit and underground deposits across various deposit styles.
Oorschot holds a BSc. in Applied Geology with First Class Honours from Curtin University and is a member of the AIG (NYSE:AIG) and the Society of Economic Geology.
Previous managing director and CEO Tim Kennedy will continue with the company as a part-time executive director until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transfer of responsibilities.
This will allow Yandal to remain focused on its aggressive exploration programs while maintaining the highest technical, governance and managerial standards.
Yandal is currently drill testing key prospects at its Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project, about 50 kilometres south of the Jundee Mine of Northern Star.
