Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has identified multiple large, coherent gold anomalies at the emerging Caladan and Irulan target areas of the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project in Western Australia through a review of shallow historical drilling data.

The largest of the seven new gold anomalies is 3 kilometres long, broadly parallel with the core of the interpreted Caladan Fold on the tenure.

There is between 1 metre and 20 metres of transported cover over the new anomalies, which have had no follow-up drilling and imply the potential for strong early-stage exploration within the project.

Apart from its work on these new gold targets, Yandal has also begun diamond drilling at the New England Granite (NEG) Prospect at IWB.

Potential for gold below cover

“The identification of these low-level in-situ regolith anomalies over what the exploration team views as an exceptional structural setting, provides the first affirmation of the potential of these emerging target areas,” Yandal Resources managing director Chris Oorschot said.

“Some of these anomalies coincide with large-scale structural features and no previous drilling has tested deeper than the upper saprolite zone.

“Given that regionally, gold depletion is common in the upper part of the regolith profile, coherent low-level anomalism is significant and we are eager to drill test these emerging targets effectively.

“Completing a heritage survey last month represents the start of this process.

“We are also pleased to commence the EIS co-funded diamond drilling at the New England Granite Prospect.

“Diamond drilling of this prospect has been a priority since early 2023 and the results will inform a follow-up RC program later this year.”

Yandal is now engaging in the designing, planning and scheduling stage of exploration for these new targets, with a follow-up heritage survey being planned and scheduled to clear additional lines across the anomalies.

Diamond drilling at New England Granite

Yandal has put the diamond drill to work at the New England Granite (NEG) Prospect, targeting a 4.2-kilometre-long strong regolith gold anomalism, identified from historical drilling near to the eastern intrusive contact.

The program will involve two holes of about 400 metres of depth each, co-funded by the Western Australian Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) Exploration Incentive Scheme.

NEG is considered highly prospective for granite-hosted mineralisation comparable to several regional deposits, including Ramone and King of the Hills.

Yandal says it is well funded to pursue its exploration goals, with a raft of programs in the works.

The company expects to receive the first results from diamond drilling at the Oblique prospect in the coming weeks and Quarter Moon diamond drilling results later in August.

Yandal also intends to release a preliminary analysis and interpretations of its recent regional soil sampling efforts soon and expects the results from the two diamond holes at NEG in the second half of August.

YRL is now focused on scheduling early-stage drilling across the Caladan and Irulan targets.
