Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has confirmed the presence of multiple zones of cross-cutting high-grade mineralisation at the Quarter Moon prospect of the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project in Western Australia.

The company hit mineralisation up to 6 metres at 4.2 g/t gold from 90 metres, including a 1-metre interval at 21.2 g/t from 94 metres.

This drilling was part of a larger 4,500-metre reverse circulation (RC) and 2,800-metre diamond drilling program across the greater IWB Project.

Two of three planned diamond holes have also been completed, testing for depth extensions and gathering data for an updated geological model to support future drilling – the final hole will be completed this week after which the drill rig will move to the New England Granite Prospect.

Potential for more gold at depth

“We are very pleased with these initial results,” Yandal Resources managing director Chris Oorschot said.

“Previous drilling suggested high-grade mineralisation was a feature of the Quarter Moon mineralised system and it is great to confirm this with our first drill program at the prospect since 2020.

“Diamond drilling is ongoing across the Quarter Moon Prospect and will build on initial interpretations based on RC drilling that suggest mineralisation occurs in 2-6-metre-wide parallel structures dipping 55° to 65° to the north (000-030°).

“The key implication and opportunity is that any mineralisation within broad-spaced drilling to the north or south likely represents parallel structures that remain un-tested at depth.”

Other results from drilling at Quarter Moon included:

  • 6 metres at 3.2 g/t gold from 143 metres, including 1-metre at 13.1 g/t from 147 metres;
  • 2 metres at 6.3 g/t from 99 metres, including 1-metre at 12.1 g/t from 147 metres; and
  • 5 metres at 2.5 g/t from 43 metres, including 1-metre at 7.8 g/t from 43 metres.

Yandal has also received all results from its 2024 soil sampling program at Ironstone Well-Barwidgee – the 1,971 samples are being processed, with modelling expected to augment existing prospects and generate new exploration targets across the project.
