Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has been busy at the Oblique Prospect where it is undertaking a wide-ranging drilling program, which includes the Oblique and Quarter Moon prospects at the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project in WA.

This is a segment of a broader campaign encompassing 4,500 metres of reverse circulation (RC) and 2,800 metres of diamond drilling at the project.

Diamond rig on site

The company has completed drilling four of the planned five diamond holes at Oblique, with the initial batch of diamond core samples slated for dispatch to the laboratory this week.

Initial logging has revealed multiple oxide intervals of interest with various veining and alteration styles.

An RC program, for which assays have been received, encompassed 2,450 metres across 18 holes, including five diamond pre-collars extending 516 metres.

The holes targeted the identification of parallel structures to OBL01 in the north and extended drilling within the OBL01 mineralised structure.

The drilling confirmed the continuity of wide oxide mineralisation within the OBL01 structure, extending further northward.

Some highlights include:

  • 28 metres at 1.1 g/t gold from 50 metres, including 4 metres at 3.3 g/t from 51 metres and 4 metres at 2.1 g/t from 71 metres; and
  • 9 metres at 1.8 g/t from 34 metres, including 1 metre at 10.2 g/t from 34 metres.

The RC drilling extended oxide mineralisation by an additional 150 metres north at Oblique, with notable intersections including:

  • 7 metres at 0.9 g/t gold from 47 metres; and
  • 3 metres at 1.4 g/t from 73 metres.

These results complement initial findings reported on April 29, which indicated another mineralised structure north of Oblique, including 15 metres at 1.7 g/t gold from 74 metres, including 3 metres at 5.3 g/t from 79 metres.

Results from the Quarter Moon RC drilling are anticipated in late June.

Busy second half of 2024

The diamond rig is expected to complete its work at Oblique shortly, then move to the Quarter Moon Prospect and subsequently to the New England Granite Prospect for two Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) holes in late June through early July.

Yandal Resources technical director Chris Oorschot said: “The latest round of Oblique RC results are very encouraging. Closer-spaced drilling within and to the south of the OBL01 structure has confirmed the interpreted geometry and mineralisation continuity of the structure.

“While we were receiving these results, diamond drilling has been progressing well, with the team focused on collecting detailed information concerning stratigraphy, structure, alteration and geological timing relationships that will provide invaluable context to assay results and allow an effective evaluation of the Oblique Prospect’s broader potential.

“The Yandal exploration team is well placed to realise larger-scale discovery opportunities across the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project as we head into the second half of 2024 with the ongoing diamond drilling program, combined with some exceptional conceptual targets derived from the recently acquired ground gravity data and the soon to be received regional soil results.”
