XTC Lithium extends gold-in-soils trend at Southern Cross

XTC Lithium Ltd (ASX:XTC, OTC:XTCPF) has announced extension to the gold trends at its Southern Cross tenement package in Western Australia.

A targeted auger drilling program over the E77/2367 prospect at Southern Cross extended gold in soil anomalies over 1.7 kilometres. Multiple gold trends were also returned with assays of up to 969.5 parts per billion (ppb) gold from UltraFines analysis.

Today’s news follows an announcement last week that the company had delineated two new gold trends at Southern Cross.

A total of 590 samples, comprising 477 auger drill holes and 113 infill soil samples, were taken across the Southern Cross tenement package, primarily targeting gold.

The geochemical auger drilling program delineated multiple gold trends targeting extensions of the historical Glen Innes gold prospect. This prospect lies between the Battler Gold mine and the historical Glendower Gold mine, halfway between Southern Cross and Marvel Loch in the Archean Southern Cross Greenstone Belt.

The new sampling program extended previous soil anomalies by 400 metres along strike through an area of previous drilling.

The narrow, close spaced, historical drilling covers less than 75 metres across strike, where the +50ppb gold soil anomalies continue for 500 metres across strike, demonstrating a large area of underexplored ground where parallel structures could exist.

Additionally, a large 1.3-kilometre-long by 300-metre-wide anomalous zone of +50ppb gold continues less than 200 metres to the north of this area which has had only three historical reverse circulation (RC) drill holes and limited rotary air blast (RAB) drilling.

XTC notes that the anomaly strikes parallel to the historical Glendower pit, 600 metres to the east.

The company says it will continue to investigate the anomalies further with additional desktop interpretation and planning an infill program to refine targets for depth testing.

Lithium anomalies returned

Additionally, low-level lithium anomalies between 50 and 59.7 parts per million (ppm) lithium were returned in the central area in some small clusters.

No distinct patterns were observed above the 50ppm threshold to suggest a pegmatite field, but lithium targets will continue to be considered during more focused gold exploration.
