Xantippe Resources Ltd (ASX:XTC, OTC:XTCPF) has shuffled its executive team as it doubles down on current and potential projects in Latin America.
John Featherby will serve as non-executive chairman after stepping down from his executive role and will continue to assist Xantippe with its Australian investments via 100%-owned subsidiary XTC Investments Australia Pty Ltd, role.
However, the major move is Matthew Beem’s transition from director Finance, Latin America to an executive director role within the XTC Group.
Notable career in financial analysis and management
Beem, a United States native, has more than two decades of experience in the financial sector in Latin America.
He brings to Xantippe experience in wealth management, investment advisory and corporate finance, including CEO, CIO and portfolio manager. Beem recently served as the country head/CEO for Uruguay at the EFG Bank Rep Offices in Montevideo and Punta del Este.
Beem embarked on his professional journey in Buenos Aires at the well-regarded think tank, Fundacion Mediterranea. This institution, which boasts links to the former Argentine finance minister Domingo Cavallo, allowed him to delve deeply into South American economies.
Over a span of two years, his role extended to examining the Brazilian economy and actively participating in a World Bank-commissioned team. This team's mandate was to draw parallels between the Brazilian currency devaluation of 1999 and the notable Argentine crisis of 2002. Moreover, his insights into the Brazilian presidential transition of 2002 garnered attention, finding their way into both South American and US publications.
Before assuming his current role at EFG Oficina de Representacion, Beem showcased his expertise as a senior figure within the portfolio management team at EFG Asset Management, based in Miami.
His responsibilities were significant, taking charge of three discretionary strategies with an Assets under Management (AuM) total of $700 million. His association with EFG Capital also saw him providing non-discretionary advice to clients, enhancing their financial understanding and decisions.
Miami's financial landscape also benefitted from Matthew's associations with other private banks, including a tenure at Citi Private Bank. Here, he played an instrumental role in asset allocation for high-net-worth portfolios.
An alumnus of Trinity University with a bachelor's degree, Beem also possesses a master's degree from the prestigious Stanford University and an additional master's in Geosciences from Mississippi State University. His linguistic prowess is evident in his fluency in Spanish, and he proudly holds the title of a CFA charter holder.
In terms of organisational commitments, Beem's leadership shone through during his presidency at the CFA Society Miami. He continues to be an active member of both the CFA Society Uruguay and Miami. His dedication to the finance community also extends to board roles at the CFA Institute and the Rotary Club. Moreover, he is involved with Stanford University as an alumni admissions interviewer, reflecting his commitment to guiding the next generation.
