Xantippe Resources Ltd (ASX:XTC, OTC:XTCPF) has bolstered its Latin American focus with the appointment of Matthew Beem as a non-executive director with specific responsibility as the director of finance and administration for that region.
Originally from the US, Beem brings to the table an extensive portfolio of experience spanning more than two decades in the financial sector within Latin America.
His most recent engagement was with EFG Bank Rep Offices in Montevideo and Punta del Este, where he served as country head and CEO for Uruguay.
What's more, Beem has held a wide array of positions in wealth management, investment advisory and corporate finance, including CEO, CIO and portfolio manager.
The news comes at a critical juncture as the lithium explorer aspires to supply sustainable, high-purity lithium from its flagship Carachi Project as well as advance three other lithium brine projects in Argentina.
Notable experience
Before joining EFG Oficina de Representacion, he was a senior member of the portfolio management team for EFG Asset Management in Miami, where he was the lead manager for three different discretionary strategies totalling an AuM of $700 million.
Beem was also an investment counsellor for EFG Capital, where he advised clients on a non-discretionary basis.
He is fluent in Spanish and has also previously held several positions in Miami-based private banks, including Citi Private Bank, where he made asset allocation decisions for HNW portfolios.
Apart from being a CPA, Beem holds a bachelor's degree from Trinity University, a master's degree from Stanford University, as well as a master's degree in Geosciences from Mississippi State University.
