The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 2.20% or 17.60 points to trade at 816.60 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 2.02% or 34.50 points to end at 1738.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 2.00% or 2.62 points to 133.98 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 3.70% or 192.00 points to trade at 4996.00 in late trade. Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) declined 3.63% or 10.10 points to end at 268.20 and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) shed 2.40% or 6.40 points to 259.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1045 to 1043 and 315 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.07% or 0.95 to $1286.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.63 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.17% or 0.11 to trade at $65.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.09% to 1.3174, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8583.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 96.760.
