Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Food Producers and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 3.29% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 6.94% or 530.00 points to trade at 8164.00 at the close. Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) added 0.21% or 0.50 points to end at 240.00 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) was down 0.55% or 34.00 points to 6152.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 7.53% or 151.00 points to trade at 1855.00 in late trade. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) declined 6.33% or 13.25 points to end at 195.95 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) shed 6.25% or 144.00 points to 2160.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1765 to 373 and 172 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.23% or 18.30 to $1507.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.77% or 0.95 to hit $52.67 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.97% or 1.16 to trade at $57.73 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.2307, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 98.688.
