Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Automobiles & Parts and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 3.17% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG), which rose 2.34% or 166.00 points to trade at 7,254.00 at the close. Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) added 1.27% or 12.20 points to end at 975.20 and Informa PLC (LON:INF) was up 0.98% or 5.00 points to 517.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which lost 11.98% or 263.00 points to trade at 1,932.00 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 10.08% or 73.40 points to end at 654.80 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 8.78% or 13.85 points to 143.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1716 to 246 and 346 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.76% or 32.05 to $1,851.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.56% or 1.80 to hit $117.11 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.97 to trade at $119.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.59% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.37% at 103.49.
