Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 2.37% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which rose 1.47% or 2.90 points to trade at 199.90 at the close. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) added 0.23% or 0.40 points to end at 177.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was up 0.05% or 0.40 points to 751.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 11.13% or 528.00 points to trade at 4215.00 in late trade. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) declined 5.21% or 71.00 points to end at 1293.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 4.69% or 18.15 points to 369.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1474 to 551 and 285 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.20% or 2.60 to $1268.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.44% or 0.30 to hit $68.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.54% or 1.16 to trade at $74.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.06% to 1.3272, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8813.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 94.01.
