Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Automobiles & Parts and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 2.35% or 20.20 points to trade at 881.40 at the close. AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) added 2.08% or 68.0 points to end at 3333.0 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 1.13% or 15.50 points to 1386.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 5.15% or 7.08 points to trade at 130.30 in late trade. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) declined 4.91% or 0.79 points to end at 15.29 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 4.77% or 5.86 points to 116.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1428 to 583 and 447 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.21% or 3.75 to $1788.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.36% or 0.26 to hit $71.41 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.48% or 0.36 to trade at $74.79 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.43% to 1.3212, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.8550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 96.230.
