Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.50% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were IMI PLC (LON:IMI), which rose 3.68% or 57.00 points to trade at 1,608.00 at the close. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) added 1.60% or 17.00 points to end at 1,082.00 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) was up 1.56% or 3.80 points to 247.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 6.15% or 38.00 points to trade at 580.00 in late trade. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) declined 5.19% or 49.00 points to end at 894.80 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 4.47% or 19.65 points to 419.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1544 to 602 and 332 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.05% or 21.25 to $2,008.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.24% or 0.90 to hit $71.62 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 1.20 to trade at $77.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 103.31.
