Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND), which rose 1.82% or 10.00 points to trade at 558.00 at the close. Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) added 1.80% or 17.00 points to end at 961.60 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 1.71% or 6.00 points to 356.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which lost 6.72% or 17.70 points to trade at 245.60 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 5.57% or 64.00 points to end at 1084.50 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) shed 5.53% or 0.72 points to 12.38.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1403 to 779 and 150 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.28% or 25.15 to $1945.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.70% or 0.30 to hit $42.81 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.10% or 0.50 to trade at $44.87 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.69% to 1.3189, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.8988.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 92.823.
