Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Forestry & Paper and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which rose 3.68% or 64.50 points to trade at 1819.00 at the close. Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) added 3.35% or 10.60 points to end at 327.50 and Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) was up 2.51% or 26.50 points to 1083.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 12.07% or 110.20 points to trade at 802.40 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 9.23% or 13.45 points to end at 132.30 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) shed 4.58% or 118.00 points to 2456.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1235 to 768 and 312 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1228.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.46% or 0.80 to hit $53.83 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.29% or 0.82 to trade at $62.66 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.78% to 1.2877, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.8857.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 96.382.
