Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.16% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which rose 1.67% or 7.40 points to trade at 451.10 at the close. Next PLC (LON:NXT) added 1.57% or 84.00 points to end at 5424.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 1.00% or 1.50 points to 152.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which lost 5.26% or 121.00 points to trade at 2181.00 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 3.98% or 38.20 points to end at 922.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) shed 3.52% or 5.64 points to 154.58.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1643 to 468 and 259 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.29% or 15.60 to $1190.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.75% or 0.56 to hit $73.78 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.85 to trade at $83.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.45% to 1.3058, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8786.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 95.55.
