Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Aerospace & Defense, Beverage and Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 18.59% or 360.00 points to trade at 2296.00 at the close. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) added 3.66% or 4.05 points to end at 114.65 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) was up 2.51% or 4.70 points to 191.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 3.72% or 82.00 points to trade at 2122.00 in late trade. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 3.43% or 18.50 points to end at 521.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 3.06% or 38.00 points to 1204.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1137 to 962 and 220 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.48% or 7.35 to $1508.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $55.68 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $60.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.05% to 1.2253, while EUR/GBP fell 1.02% to 0.9045.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 98.088.
