Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 6.84% or 1080.0 points to trade at 16875.0 at the close. Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT) added 4.27% or 20.00 points to end at 488.80 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 3.74% or 63.5 points to 1761.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which lost 2.98% or 8.70 points to trade at 283.60 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 2.58% or 148.0 points to end at 5597.0 and Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX) shed 2.30% or 17.00 points to 721.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1246 to 1023 and 196 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.57% or 9.85 to $1729.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.29% or 0.19 to hit $65.42 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.28 to trade at $68.94 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.16% to 1.3900, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8586.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 91.790.
