Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 4.21% or 27.20 points to trade at 674.00 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) added 3.59% or 100.0 points to end at 2883.0 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) was up 1.62% or 33.00 points to 2072.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 15.29% or 12.96 points to trade at 71.82 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 4.52% or 31.60 points to end at 667.40 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) shed 3.65% or 73.8 points to 1947.2.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1350 to 803 and 208 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.49% or 7.75 to $1579.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.61% or 0.31 to hit $51.48 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.49 to trade at $56.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.76% to 1.3058, while EUR/GBP fell 1.00% to 0.8303.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 98.957.
