Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which rose 7.41% or 116.00 points to trade at 1682.00 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 6.68% or 93.69 points to end at 1496.19 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was up 5.33% or 8.01 points to 158.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE), which lost 4.40% or 364.0 points to trade at 7900.0 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 3.91% or 5.00 points to end at 122.78 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) shed 3.64% or 109.0 points to 2886.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1238 to 1071 and 68 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.09% or 1.70 to $1886.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.70% or 0.29 to hit $41.05 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.38 to trade at $43.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.45% to 1.3251, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8958.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 92.403.
