Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Mining and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN), which rose 1.04% or 99.00 points to trade at 9,600.00 at the close. GSK plc (LON:GSK) added 0.95% or 15.40 points to end at 1,641.80 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 0.82% or 1.10 points to 135.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which lost 4.59% or 22.40 points to trade at 466.10 in late trade. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) declined 4.39% or 6.50 points to end at 141.45 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) shed 4.38% or 21.60 points to 471.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1198 to 563 and 691 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.25% or 25.35 to $2,007.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.25% or 0.96 to hit $77.88 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.75 to trade at $82.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 104.70.
