Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Tobacco and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which rose 4.13% or 249.3 points to trade at 6279.3 at the close. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) added 2.90% or 29.26 points to end at 1039.26 and Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) was up 2.30% or 54.0 points to 2404.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which lost 5.52% or 140.7 points to trade at 2409.3 in late trade. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) declined 4.91% or 8.14 points to end at 157.76 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 4.60% or 34.80 points to 721.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1335 to 916 and 75 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.87% or 16.25 to $1857.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.76% or 0.32 to hit $41.69 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.33 to trade at $44.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.3218, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.8955.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 92.558.
