Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electrical, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Segro Plc (LON:SGRO), which rose 2.62% or 19.00 points to trade at 743.20 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 2.48% or 47.00 points to end at 1,944.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.22% or 6.40 points to 295.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 4.44% or 3.18 points to trade at 68.44 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 3.56% or 2.63 points to end at 71.29 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) shed 3.52% or 9.10 points to 249.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 944 to 857 and 467 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.35 to $1,721.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.74% or 0.65 to hit $88.41 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.86 to trade at $94.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.42% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP rose 0.76% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.89% at 112.00.
