Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Banking and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 32.05% or 137.80 points to trade at 567.80 at the close. Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) added 2.52% or 134.00 points to end at 5,452.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 1.77% or 19.50 points to 1,120.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND), which lost 6.32% or 20.80 points to trade at 308.40 in late trade. Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) declined 3.75% or 9.70 points to end at 248.90 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) shed 3.43% or 35.50 points to 1,001.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1224 to 406 and 514 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.08% or 21.05 to $1,923.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.48% or 3.25 to hit $69.28 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 4.19% or 3.23 to trade at $73.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 102.06.
