Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Tobacco, Mobile Telecommunications and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.72% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 4.74% or 35.20 points to trade at 778.40 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.33% or 2.65 points to end at 116.25 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 2.02% or 315.00 points to 15,915.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which lost 4.36% or 109.00 points to trade at 2,391.00 in late trade. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) declined 4.17% or 75.00 points to end at 1,722.00 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) shed 3.80% or 185.00 points to 4,683.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1088 to 629 and 494 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.03% or 20.20 to $1,944.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.66% or 2.72 to hit $71.62 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.29% or 2.58 to trade at $75.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 104.17.
