Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Media and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which rose 0.84% or 12.50 points to trade at 1,497.50 at the close. AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) added 0.76% or 21.00 points to end at 2,790.00 and Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT) was up 0.76% or 6.00 points to 798.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 4.35% or 5.80 points to trade at 127.45 in late trade. InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) declined 4.35% or 216.00 points to end at 4,750.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 4.27% or 32.60 points to 731.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1251 to 523 and 508 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.31% or 23.25 to $1,748.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.30% or 0.28 to hit $92.24 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.06 to trade at $99.40 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.66% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 108.70.
