Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 6.34% or 40.20 points to trade at 674.20 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 4.46% or 9.30 points to end at 218.00 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) was up 4.05% or 2.78 points to 71.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GSK plc (LON:GSK), which lost 4.72% or 68.20 points to trade at 1,377.40 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 4.13% or 3.30 points to end at 76.62 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 3.65% or 25.60 points to 676.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1171 to 672 and 447 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 3.40 to $1,680.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.23% or 0.21 to hit $92.40 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.27 to trade at $98.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.25% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 110.05.
