Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 3.71% or 19.40 points to trade at 542.60 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) added 2.88% or 21.40 points to end at 765.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 2.49% or 3.32 points to 136.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which lost 4.99% or 98.00 points to trade at 1,867.00 in late trade. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 3.95% or 43.50 points to end at 1,059.00 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) shed 3.75% or 109.00 points to 2,798.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1053 to 803 and 477 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.14% or 2.70 to $1,942.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 4.30% or 4.23 to hit $94.03 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 4.56% or 4.69 to trade at $98.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 100.00.
