Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.63% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which rose 1.53% or 38.00 points to trade at 2,525.00 at the close. Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) added 1.30% or 3.20 points to end at 249.70 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was up 0.92% or 6.80 points to 744.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 3.30% or 47.00 points to trade at 1,375.50 in late trade. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 3.19% or 31.20 points to end at 947.00 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) shed 2.85% or 37.50 points to 1,280.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1354 to 314 and 456 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 3.55 to $1,918.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.21% or 0.97 to hit $81.36 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.72 to trade at $84.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 103.23.
