Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SSE PLC (LON:SSE), which rose 2.62% or 36.00 points to trade at 1410.00 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 1.37% or 100.0 points to end at 7390.0 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) was up 0.89% or 14.00 points to 1590.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which lost 3.74% or 125.00 points to trade at 3218.00 in late trade. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) declined 3.51% or 7.60 points to end at 208.80 and Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) shed 3.02% or 11.10 points to 355.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1231 to 762 and 416 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.41% or 5.20 to $1276.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.26% or 0.15 to hit $57.20 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.47 to trade at $63.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.09% to 1.3159, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8806.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 94.80.
