Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food & Drug Retailers, Oil & Gas Producers and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 4.61% or 12.90 points to trade at 292.90 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 4.42% or 4.02 points to end at 95.02 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) was up 3.68% or 0.41 points to 11.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 7.41% or 10.40 points to trade at 130.00 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 5.22% or 151.00 points to end at 2744.00 and Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) shed 3.23% or 39.00 points to 1169.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1246 to 935 and 171 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.48% or 9.15 to $1894.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.17% or 0.46 to hit $39.75 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.25 to trade at $41.81 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.2904, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.9079.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.953.
