Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which rose 3.60% or 93.0 points to trade at 2678.0 at the close. Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) added 3.23% or 350.0 points to end at 11200.0 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) was up 2.52% or 13.80 points to 562.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX), which lost 7.15% or 56.20 points to trade at 730.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 4.50% or 50.00 points to end at 1062.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 4.28% or 60.5 points to 1352.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1278 to 1017 and 66 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.58% or 10.45 to $1777.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.70% or 0.32 to hit $45.21 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.79% or 0.38 to trade at $47.87 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.19% to 1.3339, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8963.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 91.832.
