Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Forestry & Paper and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which rose 4.04% or 8.60 points to trade at 221.60 at the close. Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) added 4.02% or 2.26 points to end at 58.54 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 3.90% or 92.00 points to 2450.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 7.36% or 87.50 points to trade at 1102.00 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 4.79% or 37.20 points to end at 739.60 and Hiscox Ltd (LON:HSX) shed 4.41% or 56.00 points to 1213.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1123 to 1018 and 191 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.41% or 6.05 to $1456.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.44% or 0.25 to hit $56.99 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.18 to trade at $62.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.67% to 1.2855, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.8587.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 98.020.
