Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Life Insurance/Assurance and Beverage sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 5.98% or 25.20 points to trade at 446.40 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 5.62% or 31.40 points to end at 590.40 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 4.69% or 26.60 points to 593.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which lost 3.52% or 31.20 points to trade at 854.20 in late trade. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) declined 3.29% or 21.80 points to end at 640.40 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 2.97% or 65.50 points to 2,138.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 952 to 633 and 532 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.18% or 3.60 to $2,043.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.40% or 1.07 to hit $77.48 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.09% or 0.89 to trade at $82.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 102.79.
