Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Aerospace & Defense and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq), which rose 3.49% or 1.10 points to trade at 32.60 at the close. Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) added 2.62% or 1.14 points to end at 44.39 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 1.71% or 54.0 points to 3204.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 4.34% or 16.90 points to trade at 372.10 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 3.87% or 37.60 points to end at 935.20 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 3.29% or 57.2 points to 1679.2.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1292 to 988 and 218 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.77% or 13.35 to $1731.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.64% or 0.38 to hit $59.70 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.31 to trade at $63.26 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.24% to 1.3741, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8668.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 92.125.
