Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which rose 4.79% or 24.40 points to trade at 533.60 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.31% or 22.80 points to end at 551.40 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) was up 2.88% or 44.50 points to 1,590.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP), which lost 2.42% or 16.00 points to trade at 645.80 in late trade. AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) declined 2.00% or 204.00 points to end at 9,976.00 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) shed 1.73% or 18.50 points to 1,049.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 875 to 743 and 500 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 8.15 to $2,011.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.17% or 0.13 to hit $75.41 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.16 to trade at $80.32 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 103.29.
