Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG), which rose 2.33% or 132.00 points to trade at 5,790.00 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 2.09% or 45.00 points to end at 2,194.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 1.51% or 32.00 points to 2,150.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN), which lost 11.67% or 25.50 points to trade at 193.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.37% or 19.00 points to end at 544.20 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) shed 2.98% or 16.20 points to 527.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1072 to 561 and 494 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.60% or 11.75 to $1,958.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.34% or 0.28 to hit $82.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.22 to trade at $85.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 102.41.
