Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Industrial Metals & Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 2.21% or 2.94 points to trade at 136.04 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) added 1.77% or 16.00 points to end at 917.80 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 1.32% or 1.35 points to 103.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 6.46% or 10.68 points to trade at 154.76 in late trade. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) declined 6.18% or 860.00 points to end at 13,065.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 5.54% or 90.40 points to 1,542.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1090 to 678 and 486 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.54% or 9.95 to $1,816.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.14% or 0.86 to hit $76.25 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.76 to trade at $82.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.57% to 1.19, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 105.20.
