Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electrical, Tobacco and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which rose 2.44% or 3.58 points to trade at 150.42 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 1.74% or 13.20 points to end at 772.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 1.66% or 24.60 points to 1510.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB), which lost 2.51% or 67.50 points to trade at 2624.00 in late trade. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 2.35% or 27.00 points to end at 1120.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) shed 2.30% or 26.50 points to 1125.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1057 to 910 and 331 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.30% or 3.60 to $1207.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.42% or 1.70 to hit $68.67 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.78% or 1.42 to trade at $78.32 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.47% to 1.3104, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8906.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 94.64.
