Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which rose 2.10% or 220.00 points to trade at 10,675.00 at the close. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) added 1.57% or 9.60 points to end at 623.20 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) was up 1.48% or 3.60 points to 246.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which lost 4.19% or 102.00 points to trade at 2,330.00 in late trade. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) declined 3.44% or 550.00 points to end at 15,435.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 2.82% or 13.15 points to 453.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1134 to 521 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.39% or 7.75 to $1,956.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.50% or 1.13 to hit $74.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 1.26 to trade at $78.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 99.59.
