Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which rose 2.01% or 2.98 points to trade at 151.32 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 1.96% or 10.40 points to end at 540.20 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 1.54% or 29.00 points to 1,910.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB), which lost 6.54% or 38.60 points to trade at 552.00 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 4.73% or 29.80 points to end at 600.80 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 4.56% or 7.10 points to 148.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 981 to 682 and 460 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.22% or 4.15 to $1,918.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.19% or 0.13 to hit $69.69 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.07 to trade at $74.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 102.96.
