Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Beverage and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 4.29% or 23.70 points to trade at 576.60 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 3.93% or 28.80 points to end at 761.80 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 3.76% or 6.90 points to 190.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 3.18% or 4.20 points to trade at 128.00 in late trade. Diageo PLC (LON:DGE) declined 2.63% or 99.00 points to end at 3,667.50 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) shed 2.47% or 148.00 points to 5,834.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 916 to 902 and 493 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.18% or 3.45 to $1,906.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.66% or 0.53 to hit $79.92 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.97% or 0.83 to trade at $85.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.42% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 102.12.
