Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Electrical, Industrial Transportation and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which rose 2.04% or 23.00 points to trade at 1153.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 1.42% or 17.00 points to end at 1213.50 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) was up 1.39% or 7.00 points to 509.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BP PLC (LON:BP), which lost 3.80% or 19.45 points to trade at 492.55 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 2.54% or 1.86 points to end at 71.36 and Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) shed 2.23% or 58.00 points to 2542.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1140 to 951 and 227 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.32% or 4.75 to $1491.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $55.74 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.18 to trade at $61.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.09% to 1.2850, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8642.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 97.518.
