Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 4.58% or 104.0 points to trade at 2373.0 at the close. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 2.30% or 5.70 points to end at 253.80 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was up 2.28% or 106.00 points to 4752.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which lost 4.13% or 127.00 points to trade at 2950.00 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 3.38% or 27.20 points to end at 778.60 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) shed 3.22% or 208.00 points to 6248.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1127 to 936 and 320 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.86% or 10.60 to $1218.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.07% or 0.55 to hit $51.08 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.65 to trade at $59.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.76% to 1.2732, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8859.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 97.393.
