Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 5.16% or 26.60 points to trade at 542.40 at the close. Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) added 4.26% or 133.00 points to end at 3,259.00 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) was up 2.03% or 39.50 points to 1,989.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which lost 4.16% or 86.00 points to trade at 1,984.00 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 3.57% or 17.35 points to end at 469.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 3.42% or 86.00 points to 2,426.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1101 to 693 and 462 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.11% or 2.25 to $2,002.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.45% or 1.93 to hit $76.83 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.54% or 2.10 to trade at $80.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.69% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 101.66.
