Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Transportation and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG), which rose 3.82% or 510.00 points to trade at 13,865.00 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 3.29% or 4.15 points to end at 130.25 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.47% or 8.90 points to 369.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which lost 3.76% or 185.00 points to trade at 4,735.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.13% or 18.40 points to end at 569.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 3.12% or 69.50 points to 2,155.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 869 to 718 and 502 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.45% or 9.15 to $2,033.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.05% or 0.77 to hit $73.81 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.60 to trade at $78.63 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 103.94.
