Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 2.08% or 3.20 points to trade at 157.00 at the close. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) added 1.76% or 9.80 points to end at 566.40 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 1.35% or 215.00 points to 16,165.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 4.01% or 99.50 points to trade at 2,384.50 in late trade. NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) declined 2.93% or 7.40 points to end at 245.30 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 2.80% or 32.00 points to 1,111.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1123 to 532 and 490 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.18% or 23.25 to $1,947.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.03% or 1.46 to hit $70.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.21% or 0.92 to trade at $75.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 102.17.
